Over the past three years, the Guelph & Wellington Task Force for Poverty Elimination has been working with community partners to address the increasingly challenging issues experienced by providers and clients with the local emergency food system. During that time, long-term and permanent solutions were researched and explored with the support of the Institute for Community Engaged Scholarship/Research Shop. The reports are available here:

Although the local emergency food system has experienced some positive progress over the past three years, significant barriers continue to exist for those accessing and providing emergency food assistance. A group of community stakeholders were called together to put forward a set of recommendations that would lead our community toward a new vision for emergency food services in Guelph-Wellington. The recommendations have been endorsed by the Poverty Task Force and the Food Access Working Group and have been supported by a number of community stakeholders. We are encouraged by the positive response our new vision has received and look forward to developing it further with the input of our community.
