Transportation plays a significant role in the economic and social well-being of Canadians. Not only do commercial transportation industries (i.e. air, truck, rail, water) in Canada account for a signficant percentage of the GDP, but also “safe, efficient, sustainable and reliable transportation systems are critical…to the quality of life of Canadians.”

This latest report by the Guelph & Wellington Task Force for Poverty Elimination looks at the intricate connections between health, poverty and transportation. The report reviews poverty as a social determinant of health, looks at the connection between poverty, transportation and medical services and considers the impact of transportation inaffordability on overall quality of life.
