Please note: Time of consultation has changed to 2:30pm-5:30pm.

The Ministry of Government and Consumer Services is holding consultations on ways to protect consumers who use high-cost financial products and services outside the mainstream banking and credit union systems, as well as consumers who have debts in collection. The government is looking for input on services like payday loans, cheque cashing, money transfers and debt collection agencies.

You can help inform advice to government by taking part in local discussions, commenting on a consultation paper, or answering a survey. Discussions will be held with community agencies, credit counsellors, and consumers of alternative financial services throughout the province.

The Guelph consultation is taking place July 20th from 2:30pm-5:30pm at the Evergreen Seniors Centre.
