On Friday December 14th, Ontario communities mobilized and generated a response to provincial cuts to homelessness prevention programs. The event was hosted by the Hamilton Roundtable for Poverty Reduction and Hamilton Organizing for Poverty Elimination.
The Guelph & Wellington Task Force for Poverty Elimination and twelve other Ontario communities endorsed a joint statement which expressed immediate concern over the termination of the Community Start-Up and Maintenance Benefit and the cuts to discretionary health benefits – vital programs that prevent homelessness, promote health and maintain dignity.
