The Government of Ontario is removing the Community Start Up and Maintenance Benefit (CSUMB) from Ontario Works and the Ontario Disability Support Program, effective December 31, 2012.

A one-page document has been shared with OW and ODSP clients that outlines why the decision was made and explains how a new County of Wellington Social Services benefit will offer the same types of assistance to clients receiving social assistance.

Earlier this year, the Co-Chairs of the Poverty Task Force urged the Government of Ontario to reverse the cut and restore full funding to the CSUMB program. You can read that letter HERE.
